Regularity of the solution to a class of weakly singular fredholm integral equations of the second kind
1979
Continuity and differentiability properties of the solution to a class of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind with weakly singular kernel are derived. The equations studied in this paper arise from e.g. potential problems or problems of radiative equilibrium. Under reasonable assumptions it is proved that the solution possesses continuous derivatives in the interior of the interval of integration but may have mild singularities at the end-points.
SOME SPECTRAL PROPERTIES OF MULTIPLIERS ON SEMI-PRIME BANACH ALGEBRAS
1995
Abstract We extend to arbitrary semi-prime Banach algebras some results of spectral theory and Fredholm theory obtained in [1] and [2] for multipliers defined in commutative semi-simple Banach algebras.
Single-valued extension property at the points of the approximate point spectrum
2003
Abstract A localized version of the single-valued extension property is studied at the points which are not limit points of the approximate point spectrum, as well as of the surjectivity spectrum. In particular, we shall characterize the single-valued extension property at a point λ o ∈ C in the case that λoI−T is of Kato type. From this characterizations we shall deduce several results on cluster points of some distinguished parts of the spectrum.
Operators Which Do Not Have the Single Valued Extension Property
2000
Abstract In this paper we shall consider the relationships between a local version of the single valued extension property of a bounded operator T ∈ L ( X ) on a Banach space X and some quantities associated with T which play an important role in Fredholm theory. In particular, we shall consider some conditions for which T does not have the single valued extension property at a point λ o ∈ C .
On generalized a-Browder's theorem
2007
We characterize the bounded linear operators T satisfying generalized a-Browder's theorem, or generalized a-Weyl's theorem, by means of localized SVEP, as well as by means of the quasi-nilpotent part H0(I T) asbelongs to certain sets of C. In the last part we give a general framework in which generalized a-Weyl's theorem follows for several classes of operators. 1. Preliminaries. Let L(X) denote the space of bounded linear oper- ators on an infinite-dimensional complex Banach space X. For T ∈ L(X), denote by α(T) the dimension of the kernel ker T, and by β(T) the codi- mension of the range T(X). The operator T ∈ L(X) is called upper semi- Fredholm if α(T) < ∞ and T(X) is closed, and lower …
Fredholm composition operators on algebras of analytic functions on Banach spaces
2010
AbstractWe prove that Fredholm composition operators acting on the uniform algebra H∞(BE) of bounded analytic functions on the open unit ball of a complex Banach space E with the approximation property are invertible and arise from analytic automorphisms of the ball.
Functional Calculus and Fredholm Criteria for Boundary Value Problems on Noncompact Manifolds
1992
A Boutet de Monvel type calculus is developed for boundary value problems on (possibly) noncompact manifolds. It is based on a class of weighted symbols and Sobolev spaces. If the underlying manifold is compact, one recovers the standard calculus. The following is proven:
Multiplicative Decompositions of Holomorphic Fredholm Functions and ψ*-Algebras
1999
In this article we construct multiplicative decompositions of holomorphic Fredholm operator valued functions on Stein manifolds with values in various algebras of differential and pseudo differential operators which are submultiplicative ψ* - algebras, a concept introduced by the first author. For Fredholm functions T(z) satisfying an obvious topological condition we. Prove (0.1) T(z) = A(z)(I + S(z)), where A(z) is holomorphic and invertible and S(z) is holomorphic with values in an “arbitrarily small” operator ideal. This is a stronger condition on S(z) than in the authors' additive decomposition theorem for meromorphic inverses of holomorphic Fredholm functions [12], where the smallness …
Spectral invariance, ellipticity, and the Fredholm property for pseudodifferential operators on weighted Sobolev spaces
1992
The pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the Grushin classes \~S inf0 supρ,δ , 0 ≤ δ < ρ ≤ 1, of slowly varying symbols are shown to form spectrally invariant unital Frecher-*-algebras (Ψ*-algebras) in L(L 2(R n )) and in L(H γ st ) for weighted Sobolev spaces H infγ sup defined via a weight d function γ. In all cases, the Fredholm property of an operator can be characterized by uniform ellipticity of the symbol. This gives a converse to theorems of Grushin and Kumano-Ta-Taniguchi. Both, the spectrum and the Fredholm spectrum of an operator turn out to be independent of the choices of s, t and γ. The characterization of the Fredholm property by uniform ellipticity leads to an index …
Classes of operators satisfying a-Weyl's theorem
2005
In this article Weyl's theorem and a-Weyl's theorem on Banach spaces are related to an important property which has a leading role in local spectral theory: the single-valued extension theory. We show that if T has SVEP then Weyl's theorem and a-Weyl's theorem for T are equivalent, and analogously, if T has SVEP then Weyl's theorem and a-Weyl's theorem for T are equivalent. From this result we deduce that a-Weyl's theorem holds for classes of operators for which the quasi-nilpotent part H0(I T ) is equal to ker (I T ) p for some p2N and every 2C, and for algebraically paranormal operators on Hilbert spaces. We also improve recent results established by Curto and Han, Han and Lee, and Oudghi…
